Witnesses told police the men and three others had been seen unloading drugs from boats July 28 when they were approached by up to a dozen "men in blue." Johnson said six men jumped into the river after talking to the "men in blue," and three drowned. Their bodies were discovered the next day. "We're alleging they went there in uniform, and approached the boat on the appearance of acting on police business," Johnson said, adding that he believes the officers intended to steal an estimated 600 to 800 pounds of cocaine from the men. He declined to say what happened to the cocaine, nor would he answer questions about a fifth officer who also was relieved of duty Dec. 10.

Friday's arrests came one day after dismissed Miami police officers Felix A. Beruvides, 28, and Armando Lopez, 24, were charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine, armed trafficking in cocaine, armed burglary and grand theft in connection with the disappearance of 150 pounds of cocaine from the largest seizure in Miami police history. Both remained in custody Friday. Bond for Lopez was set at $500,000. Beruvides' bond was $250,000.

Roundtree said one officer was later reinstated. 2 Rockland men indicted for DWI Two Rockland men were indicted Friday by a Rockland County grand jury on felony charges of drunken driving, District Attorney Kenneth Gribetz announced.
